Karkhana is organizing free computing session for teachers on the 7th of August.
Digital and social technologies have become increasingly pervasive and now are indispensable tools for navigating our world. These technologies have brought endless opportunities but they also present their own sets of challenges. The spread of misinformation, propaganda, and sensationalist stories through social media and the explosive growth in the screen time in the young and old are few of the challenges that have been pozed. Our neighbors in the south have seen the use of WhatsApp groups to incite mob violence and the use of digital communities to radicalize the youth. Thus, it is important not only to teach young people how to create and use technology but also to socialize them on how to be good digital citizens.
Addressing the 21st-century skills of digital citizenship is important; to help students to learn, communicate, and collaborate safely online. The session aims to introduce the urgent need for integrating the idea of “Digital Citizenship” in our curriculum. The 60 min long interactive session will be focusing on “Tackling Disinformation” in the digital age.
